Review of Captain America (1990) by Westleigh Q — 23 Jul 2011
Considering this was a B-movie from the early 90's when nobody was making superhero movies, this early take on the Captain America story is fairly enjoyable. While I didn't really care for Salinger in the lead role, Paulin's portrayal of the Red Skull provides the necessary depth and passion to carry the movie forward.
I also enjoyed the somber tone of the film, which showcased that the Captain America story is a modern day tragedy. Here's a man who finally gets to live a normal life, only to have it immediately ripped from him when he is frozen in time for 50 years.
A must see for hardcore Marvel fans, everyone else should probably pass.
