Review of Captain Alatriste: The Spanish Musketeer (2006) by Cristina P — 05 Jun 2010
Extraordinaire, memorable Viggo Mortensen as the best possible Diego Alatriste, fictional character created by Arturo Pérez-Reverte about a 16th century soldier's adventures for Spain's grandeur or whoever paid a few coins.
Uneasy entertainment except for those filled with passion for the "small history", one that cares for the common people, their unknown lives and sacrifices, morality, honor and ethics, love and lust and power and money.
It can be chronologically confusing if you know nothing about the Spanish Empire. Correct casting, and an amazing Art Direction. Fans of Capitan Alatriste' s novels will no be disappointed.
