Review of Capitalism: A Love Story (2009) by Matt L — 08 Jun 2011
Y'know what I appreciate about Michael's documentaries? They take concepts that are broad and/or unquestionably accepted and he pulls in dozens of seemingly unrelated rumors or coincidental facts and highlights a common thread that binds all of these bullet points together into something very simple, very human (in other words, deceptive) that I would not have seen for myself separately because it has been woven into the fabric of our social systems.
I don't know if he begins his movies' research with a thesis and then goes to prove it, or if he just starts by investigating a number of indignities or wrongs and then unravels a thesis.
Whatever he does, I'm extremely grateful for him doing it.
