Review of Capitalism: A Love Story (2009) by Ryan V — 31 Aug 2011
It's better than normal Michael Moore movies. It does lay the blame for the economic crisis at the doorstep of Wall Street. It also blames the Democrats and Republicans both, but since it's Michael Moore it definitely blames Republicans Presidents more than Democrat Presidents.
Congress gets ripped, deservedly so. But it all goes back to the uber-wealthy. The top 1% that control more than the bottom 95% combined. The real drag (as usual) is Moore's propensity to insert himself during the final reel as the working class hero/man of the people getting justice.
If you're below the age of 21, you'll love that part. Any older, not so much. Trust me, I'm living proof of that. The documentary works best when average citizens get a chance to tell their stories about how unbridled and unregulated capitalism (corporate greed) has screwed them.
And for that, I recommend the film.
