Review of Capitalism: A Love Story (2009) by Thomas W — 13 Nov 2011
This is another Michael Moore documentary which half of the population won't watch and will stew over simply because it is from Mr. Moore. They don't care what is is about or that Mr. Moore bashes both republicans and democrats alike in this movie.
This man is considereded to be one of the most evil men to walk the planet -- he is seriously held in like regards to Hitler ... which just baffles me. This is a man with a big mouth who wants to tell people the way he thinks it is (what he thinks just happens to be right about 75% of the time).
This movie is not an attack on individuals and it should be seen so we can kind of understand why America (and the rest of the world, actually -- Iceland, Greece are the leaders and the rest will follow) are in the trouble that we are in.
One law changed the world and nothing has been the same since then. It was one law! His beef is with ONE law. What has come fromt his new law did change America and it has shrunk the middle class's pockets.
I think this doc does a decent job of explaining why things are the way the are and it does a very good job showing us where this money is now going (to a few); but it doesn't really offer up any solutions or handy-dandy-little tricks to avoid falling into these financial traps.
Food, Inc. at least offered an alternative to big business; but Capitalism does not. It is as if we are supposed to become so angry on our own we will revolt; but when a select few have all of the money and resources it is impossible.
Nobody realizes that simply by quitting work these people would have to re-access their values because the world would THEN take notice. A mass strike would be the only way to call attention to one's money-leeching boss; but since everyone needs food in their fridge and a roof over their heads (which millions are losing anyway) they remain meek and they must be content with the Biblical phrase: "And the meek shall inherit the earth.
" I guess these souls are simply bidding their time for something greater. I wish Moore could come up with a new documentary style instead of the cut and pasting with his voice-over. That is all we have gotten the last four or five go-arounds.
He won an Oscar (for a VERY good Bowling for Columbine) so he has talent; but he has used the same method of delivery since then (no wonder he has gotten fewer subsequent noms -- we've seen these before!).
Anyone overly critical of Moore hasn't watch more than one (if any) of his docs. They are told to dislike him and they do. It is unfortunated because he is a man who loves America and wants it to be the best nation on the planet.
I can tell he does what he does out of passion for his motherland. He is tired of seeing it destroyed. Anybody who cannot understand this needs to travel to Flint, Michigan and look at it. No -- it isn't a war zone; it has simply been abandoned by the money machine of America.
Sad.
