Review of Capernaum (2018) by Sue R — 01 Jun 2018
Capernaum is a movie that opens our eyes into the problems that burden the poor, especially the refugees and immigrants! It handles this subtle issue with an exquisite care. Some might naively accuse it as "manipulative" or "begging for our tears".
These people are likely to be enjoying some sort of luxury that disconnected them from the lower class society, where individuals are learning hard to survive such harsh reality. It describes their daily life suffering with elegant realism until the viewer begins to ask questions about these problems, and more importantly, to think about finding the ways to help to deal with them.
