Review of Cape Fear (1991) by Maria B — 21 Jun 2009
Not a bad attempt at a remake but not as good as the 1962 original, (as usual), but interesting however, to see a young Juliette Lewis in her most irritating role. De Niro brings his usual finesse to the role of the psychotic Max Cady to whom revenge is a dish best served wet, cold and constantly but Nolte is a tad miscast as the caring father who has neglected to slap his daughter as often as he should have.
Lange does a good job as the uncaring wife in what was possibly her last role before her looks went to hell. Fairly far fetched with a few impossible scenarios but all in all, an okay, if predictable thriller.
