Review of Cape Fear (1991) by Rudy C — 02 Feb 2010
If this starred betty white and fran drescher this could have went down as the greatest lifetime movie ever. To me it just felt like a lifetime original but just a little more intense moments and solid performances.
Cady is a highly motivated freshly released convict with one thing on his mind Revenge. His target is his former defense attorney Sam who buried a very significant detail of his case that resulted in him spending 14 long years in jail. During that time Cady self educated his self and learned of his attorneys negligance to present the evidence.
Sam isnt exactly livin in paradise with a family plagued with many problems. So you can imagine things dont get much better when Cady comes into play.
Cady starts inconspicously terrorizing Sam. Killing their dog even manipulating danielle sams daughter into liking him. At first Sam dont wanna take any extreme actions such as getting a gun and so forth. But the more Cady pushes his buttons the more he steps over his moral boundaries.
Sounds great right? Well its good. There was so many cheesy moments that even the cheetos cheetah said thats a little much. It felt like the end was a little dragged out for my taste too. Deniro and lewis is really what made this more than a mediocre movie to me. I wouldn?t say don?t watch this because it is enjoyable in parts just don?t expect to have your socks knocked.
