Review of Cape Fear (1991) by Daniel A — 10 Jun 2011
Suspenseful and entertaining Scorcese thriller doesn't pull its punches, and subsequently comes off overblown at times. A talented cast form the movie's backbone, with standout performances from a young Juliette Lewis, and of course Robert DeNiro whose psychotic lead is one of his most vile creations ever.
The main problem lies with Nick Nolte's father character, whose idiocy in dealing with DeNiro's actions is frustrating to say the least. Overall however this is a solid entry in the Scorcese canon.
