Review of Cape Fear (1991) by Dan D — 15 Oct 2011
Goodfellas was released one year before this film, and it was the greatest gangster/mob film off all time. And then Scorsese releases Cape Fear into the world. Now, offcourse it does not compare to Goodfellas, but it's still a strong and suspensful thriller/horror experimental film that brought great box office success.
An amazingly dynamic, raw and scary performance from DeNiro who plays his character brilliantly. A superbly constructed film , which may not be Scorsese at his best, but it is Scorsese at his second tier best, which is almost better than first tier everybody else.
I advice this film highly for anybody who apprciates the sheer art in cinema. I have yet to see the original, so I cannot compare the two togehter, however, even though I have not seen it, I can be 99% sure that this version did it justice.
3.8/5.... VERY RECCOMENDED..
