Review of Cape Fear (1991) by James-Masaki R — 23 May 2012
Scorsese's vengeance thriller, a very formulaic, straightforward, and very Hollywood production of the remake of the Mitchum/Peck classic. The violence is upped, the turmoil within the family is much more crucial.
But strangely, Scorsese decided to make a straight narrative thriller based on conventions, something he had never really done to this extent. And it came out as one of the most memorable thrillers of the 1990s.
