Intense thriller, De Niro just entirely inhabits his psychotic Max Cady character.
A towering salute to the Master of Suspense. The opening titles, an eye close-up as the screen turns a blood red, the Bernard Herrmann score... every Hitchcock element I admittedly lapped up with nerdy enthusiasm. And, of course, the cameos of the original cast were a great little extra.
