In the genre of "car" movies it's about a 3 star flick... over all though it's pretty bad. It is though a good piece of 70's drive-in nostalgia and the foundation of all those "Cannonball Run" knock-offs that came afterward.
Lame multi-car pile up at the end is a poor shot at comedy and tarnishes the over-all film as well as a film shoot obviously 99% shot in Socal ( a cross country race???) except til the very end in New York.
.. Kudos for unbilled Sylvester Stallone's cameo where he tells Paul Bartel's character "that he looks good fat.".
