Really only works as a controversial film that you watch because you're not supposed to. The plot is interesting but the grotesque dismemberment, rape, and real slaying of animals is not easy to stomach.
It's interesting to point out that the murders in this look so realistic, the director was arrested on suspicion of making a snuff film.
