Review of Cannibal Holocaust (1980) by Simon A — 09 May 2010
The tag says it, the most controversial movie ever made. Blair Witch long before its time, an Italian horror about a documentary crew that goes into the rain forest and films cannibals-- but it goes too far, way too far.
There is a successful horror film in here, successful at disturbing the audience with a message about the nature of man (in this collision of the 20th century and the stone age) and gore that to this day, seems all too real-- but it's surrounded by scenes of the crew hunting, killing, and cooking animals. There is simply no excuse for such.
You'll want to take a shower after you watch it.
