Upon first viewing, I didnt' think it was as bad as most people say it is (it got banned or some such, didn't it?). So I was kind of "huh. is that all?" about it at first. Then reviewing it, it made me more queasy and upset.

There's certain scenes that are pretty hardcore. Watch it for yourself and make up your mind about its level of brutality.
