Review of Cannibal Holocaust (1980) by Jason C — 18 Jun 2009
In my experience with horror movies I have often been lead to some very dark places, Cannibal Holocaust is just one of those places. It is sick, twisted and unforgiving. But it also has a potent message even though it is an exploitation film.
It's a movie that goes to far, it contains some truly disturbing and hard to watch animal cruelty scenes, but it is well acted. The documentary style photography never slips, it is completely convincingly real.
This movie is not for everyone, in fact it's not for most people. If you can't stand gore then all I have to say is stay away, you've been warned. I would give CH a higher score if it weren't for the (real) animal death scenes.
