Review of Cannibal Holocaust (1980) by Kerry T — 17 Oct 2009
Cannibal Holocaust is an odd movie to review, and quite difficult looking at it from a genre fan point it's the best of 70's shock cinema. On the opposite side of the coin is the morale perspective, watching this movie is comparable to watching you parents have sex, it's uncomfortable, gross, and disturbing.
If you are easily offended by films then this one is not for you, cause you will most certainley feel like curling up in the fetal postion, at the rear corner of your shower, crying, letting the water wash you clean. Hell I'm an atheist and after seeing this film I felt I needed to confess, and apologize for watcing this film.
Yet another thing to take away though is the message brought from this movie, and you are propbably asking yourself what kind of message can a movie this sickening offer. Well that message is that the inner beast is in all of us, and that we need to control it. Also that the media has taken hold of our senses. Though if you can sit through an episode of your evening news, you have the stomach to sit through this.
Also if you like me and just fan of the 70's shock and explotation films this is a must see.
