Review of Cannibal Holocaust (1980) by Brandon S — 12 Apr 2010
Ruggero Deodato's masterpiece shocker is highly disturbing and repulsive, but at the same time Deodato is pushing the exploitation to the limit. The film is actually a movie inside a movie in which a professor goes on an expedition to find out what happened to a group of documentarians that were lost to a tribe of cannibals and wants to recover their footage.
The main problem with this film is the killing of animals for shock value, the footage of the tribesman brutalizing the filmmakers on the other hand was enjoyable. They got what they deserved, the film has a small amount of substance to it by examining the obsession of the media to exploit everything.
Anyways the film does contain nonstop raping, killing, and just about any other sort of objectional material so not for everyone!
