A social commentary that pre-dates the 'Found Footage' trend that has seized horror films in recent years. Cannibal Holocaust is a difficult film to like because of its chillingly realistic scenes of dismemberment (not to mention the genuine scenes of animal cruelty) but there's no denying that it is a bold and effective piece of work.
