Review of Cannibal Holocaust (1980) by Robert C — 19 Oct 2010
Gruesome gore and revolting rape, I had a hard time watching Cannibal Holocaust. Watching it was an experience I will never forget, and not in a good way. In the movie there is an argument of whether or not to show the documentary footage recovered to the public.
This argument is immediately followed by us, the public, seeing the footage! The animal cruelty is what really sets this movie apart for me. A pig, a turtle, a snake, a spider, a coatimundi, and a spider monkey are all really killed and sometimes mutilated.
These are not props or gags, it is quite terrifying. With that said, it is an interesting story with a needed look into the world of documentaries and their trustworthiness.
