Review of Cannibal Holocaust (1980) by Rudy L — 28 Jul 2011
The music to this film goes amazingly with it. The scenes (as horrible as they are in and of themselves) are multiplied when put with the score. This is one of the more visually brutal films I've seen.
The often jerky, intense camera movements add so much to the scenes, heightening the feeling of horror and suspense. The transitions between the 'real world' in New York and the world in the jungle is smooth and easier to handle than similar ones such as those in 'Cannibal Perox'.
The famous impalement scene is both beautiful and horrid. It is no surprise so many thought this film to be an actual snuff film. There is no other film I have seen like it. And the 'theme' if you will, is so creepy when played over the cannibalism scenes because the theme is somewhat upbeat and a nice orchestral piece.
One of the best of this genre. Enjoyed it.
