Review of Cannibal Holocaust (1980) by General G — 19 Sep 2011
Cannibal Holocaust is a gruesome film. It is difficult to watch, with gore so realistic it makes you sick (and actually incited a court investigation as to whether or not the director may have actually murdered actors for the film).
Add onto the realistic special effects, the fact that actual animals were gutted for real...and you get plenty of gross and gruesome scenes that aren't easy to watch. To me all the extreme gore would be one thing, but the film isn't even entertaining to watch.
It's just a chore to watch terrible people doing terrible things for no damn reason. It's sick, and I'd rather not repeat the experience.
