Review of Cannibal Holocaust (1980) by Sam K — 29 Sep 2012
An anthropologist makes his way into the South American jungle in order to find four missing jounalists who went to investiagte cannibal tribes. The movie is quite eery from the beginning. The soundtrack will confuse you slightly as you can't hep but feel it isn't matching up with what is happening on screen. Other notable things to mention, is the animal cruelty in the movie. Not to spoil anything but the animals killed in it, are in fact killed in every sense of the word. The director was arrested due to the fact authorities believed the actors in the film were actually killed. The best way to describe this movie is a conversation between myself and my friend where I asked 'Is this the rape scene?', to which he replied 'I don't know, its really hard to put this down as the one rape scene, theres so many'. So basically even after seeing that brief piece of dialouge if you want to proceed, do so. If you can't even stomach those words, you were warned.
In its favour is the style in which it is created, the idea of finding old footage as being the pre text of the movie.
