Review of Cannibal Holocaust (1980) by Andrew K — 11 Nov 2012
Gruelling and intense, though possibly not quite as much as most people make out. The documentary style makes it all feel more immediate and real, and therefore horrific (the most distressing aspects are the occasional suffering animals, because they're doing it for real).
It has that rugged, gritty, late-70s look of all the best Italian horrors. Definitely the king of cannibal films.
