To this day, Cannibal Holocaust remains one of the most controversial film of all time.

So realistic, so brutal, and so gory...this movie is amazing. It is still mostly too gory..in fact the DVD includes a version without the animal deaths.

Yes, unfortunately the animals really are being killed. I found this so disturbing and disgusting, and in that alone the filmmakers succeeded in evoking emotion.

Add to that death and cannibalism so realistic, it makes you wonder maybe if it is real. The gritty film quality (done intentionally) and 'live' documentary style gives the film a cult status and became inspiration of so many films.

Despite being so brutally disgusting, it is an amazing, and thought provoking movie.
