Review of Cannibal Ferox (1981) by Jason J — 14 Jul 2010
I had this movie mistaken for something else. It's a water down, less realistic rip-off of Cannibal Holocaust as far as I'm concerned. They even destroy a tortoise in this one as well-a defining moment in cinema controversy from CH.
The horrendous acting makes it more amusing than Holocaust, and it does feature this scene where a head is trapped in this device and nothing but the skull is exposed. They then hack half the head off to make a human head bowl of brains and of course eat some like chips at house party.
.that was pretty wild. Other than that, this one is a waste of time. They even try to play the "oh the white man is the real bad guy" out of nowhere. At least Holocaust built on that idea a little more (nevermind the film itself is completely immoral).
Go see Cannibal Holocaust for superior a Cannibal Exploitation fix. Unfortunately, there aren't really too many good films in the subgenre, and this is no exception.
