Review of Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh (1995) by Michael R — 25 Apr 2009
Bit of a cheap and cheerful sequel this one although not completely terrible. It does have its moments and moving the setting to New Orleans during Mardi Gras is a nice touch and adds something to the film.
Tony Todd is once again great as the Candyman even if all his lines of dialogue are recycled from the first movie. Unfortunatly Kelly Rowens heroine is a bit of a wet blanket and nowhere near as good as Virginia Madsen was in the original.
The ending isnt great, the demise of the Candyman is abit naff. The flashback scenes to when Candyman is chased down by the angry mob to have his hand removal and be encounter however are the highlight of the film.
As far as direct to video horror sequels go, this could have been alot worse.
