Review of Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh (1995) by Hayden W — 11 Jun 2017
This is a very underrated horror sequel imo...considering good horror sequels are numerous enough to list on 1 hand...this movie does well for itself...the film never felt cheap or low budget....visually this movie is solid as well the New Orleans setting and Phillip Glass (score) combine to create a very specific atmosphere.
...it works well with this film....Now imo it's not as good as the first in some areas....but in others it surpasses the original without really touching it/negatively affecting it....it does succumb to the inevitable horror cliches here and there, but nowhere near enough to ruin the film.
...Tony Todd owns as usual...Kelly Rowan turns in a surprisingly well played role....the rest of the cast have solid outings imo....if you're a fan of the original...this can be a fun film.
