Review of Candyman (2021) by Dirtymack — 23 May 2022
Great film! Although it seems the movie has struck a nerve with Status Quo Warriors, the political messaging was woven into the mythos very well and it retroactively made the 1992 original an even better experience.
The writing was sleek and the characters felt like real people. Directing choices felt inspired and gave a modern spin on the classic movie monster. The score is also worthy of a highlight, especially the pieces played during excellent animated segments.
