(1992) Candyman.
HORROR/ MYSTERY.
Helen Lyle (Virginia Madsen) an University of Illinois in Chicago graduate student who by curiosity does an investigation on the urban myths surrounding an inhuman serial killer being people call the "Candyman", so just like what a reporter does she revisits many of the sites where he's supposed to have been seen, and you can pretty much predict the rest of this film.
When I saw this film scoring quite well with movie critics, I was pretty baffled since they as well as I had seen this set up done hundreds of times before from Jason of the Friday the 13th movies to Freddy Krueger, Halloween to the old Hammer films showcasing regular skeptics or curious protagonists who hear about something first and they always do some kind of research/ investigation on it, or continue to visit sites where people were supposed to be have been killed with one difference that this is like an introduction to the "Candyman". I tried to watch this movie again from my commercial VHS copy of "Candyman" and realized how boring it was for it almost seems that the movie stalls the audience with boring conversions with Helen and eyewitnesses. Famed horror writer Clive Barker came up with this concept and the experience can't be more boring than watching it.
2 out of 4 stars.
