Review of Candyman (1992) by Steve E — 14 Mar 2009
This film is based on a story by renowned horror author Clive Barker, and is directed with flair. The music score is a haunting and beautiful piece, not your average slasher score. The characters are great.
The story is mysterious and intriguing. I had one good scare. There is one great set piece. The special fx with the bees are well executed, except for the opening shot of the Chicago skyline that looks kinda fake.
Some shot compositions are poor, and it's a bit slow moving towards the end. The ending though, is worthy of a great horror film. Todd is simply fantastic as the killer Candyman.
