Review of Candyman (1992) by Earl H — 28 Jul 2009
I remember this being talked about in the playground at school, and being dared to say his name 5 times while looking in the mirror. Of course, I was young, sheltered and had no idea what the other kids were talking about.
Based on a novel by Clive Barker (which I've never read, so can't compare book to film adaptation), It's a solid piece of work from all involved, jumps in all the right places and a great story. I don't hold out much hope for when I watch the sequels, I fear they may shed innocent blood, however it was blood that was never meant to be shed. The original film however, a definite 4 star.
