Review of Candy (2013) by Tomariah S — 24 Jun 2009
Australian classic movie: following on movies like 'requiem for a dream', 'kids', and 'trainspotting' (just to mention a few), comes this tale of love, loss and the 'bewildering experience of being a heroin addict'.
ledger, cornish and rush are powerful in their portrayal, as are the actors who played cornish's parents in the film... the film is beautiful, raw, simple and realistic with its attempts at showing the promises made to make a change, and the drastic steps one will take to try and earn a little money to feed a destructive and horrible addiction.
I hope the kids that see this today, understands the intention of the movie, as with other tales of drugs and addiction, but I fear that many will not..... and that hospital scene with the pregnant cornish, WOW, was not expecting it to be as graphic as it was.
... WONDERFUL, BEAUTIFUL, MAGICAL!!!!!
