Its special..because of the great performances...even though the screenplay is nowhere close to perfect and the characters leave alot of scope for improvement but the actors....especially the late heath ledger and abbie cornish show how sometimes.

.the actors can go beyond the scope provided and pitch in great performances..you see the characters dwell in the misery subjected by drugs...but never does the movie reach the heights of a great flick!
