Review of Candy. (2010) by Joe D — 30 May 2008
Once upon a time there was Candy and Dan...
The film Candy is one of a kind. It follows the journey of two lovers, caught in the world of addiction. Candy and Dan go to any length to get their fix, even if it means doing things they never imagined doing. As the story continues, I felt that their love for each other was just as strong as their love for the drug. I watch as Candy slowly loses herself, and as Dan slowly figures things out. Ledger and Cornish showed absolutely how difficult life can become, and how quickly things can change. Comfort zones are out the window, death is around the corner, and you see a brand new side not only of yourself, but of each other.
What I took from the film was this: Love can make you do things you never thought you would do, it can take you places you never saw yourself going to, and above all it can be a wonderful thing. Love is fragile yet intoxicating and it is easy to get caught up and maybe too comfortable at times. But do not ever take it for granted, because it can fall away quicker than it came, and it takes both parts to keep it afloat. Finally, when its gone, its gone and There's no going back.
