Review of Canadian Bacon (1995) by Reginald G — 17 Aug 2004
Catching Kill Bill finally 4 months after my friends decided to just kill my friday evening last april, no Im not bitter. Haha. I really really dug this version. Which kind of surpirised me because it wasnt nearly as full of action but I liked the settings, the cinematography and the 2nd part of the story much better than in Kill Bill 1. Overall it was a really good flick. The coolest Things about Kill Bill were all the homages to hong kong, kung fu, and western flicks.
As far as Underworld is concerned it was pretty bad. I expected much more than shabby effects and a dull story. Welll actually the story wasnt that bad but it was executed horribly and the acting sucked. The whole time I just didnt care about anybody or what was happening. Too bad. Werewolves vs Vampires has so much potential.
Canadian Bacon was an movie I originally caught way back a little after it came out when I was 10. I didnt nearly get all the humour. Both in its take on Canadians in a playful way and the government. Its so cynical and at the same time loveable thanks to John Candy and Dan Aykroyd.
Not to mention a great score by the now late Elmer Bernstein.
