Review of Can You Ever Forgive Me? (2018) by Marco Antonio L — 27 Jan 2019
A biographical film about talented writer Lee Israel who cannot get published due to her writer's block and her alcoholism. She finds an illegal way out of her troubles by forging letters written by famous authors and selling them with the help of her friend Jack.
Based on the book written by Lee Israel herself, the plot is certainly intriguing and interesting. The dramatic performances of Melissa McCarthy, who is mostly a comedic actor, and Richard E Grant as an old gay man make us sympathize with the titular character, despite the unethical nature of her actions.
Best of lucks!
