Can You Ever Forgive Me feels ultimately forgettable for me. It doesn't help that the trailers for this film, which have been running before every movie I have seen this past year, tell the whole story of the movie! I found it to be quite an unremarkable tale.
There are two good things that save the movie from total mediocrity, and those two things are Melissa McCarthy and Richard E Grant. Their acting is both very good, and Melissa McCarthy was honestly pretty good in a serious role.
Overall, if you like acting, you can gain some entertainment from this movie. Otherwise, it's not really worth seeing.
