Review of Campaign (2007) by Mark C — 02 Jun 2008
Excellent cinema verite look at a Japanese political campaign. After having listened to candidates do nothing but scream their names from cars for two years, it was nice to hear a candidate having conversations with his staffers, party members, and family about how and why campaigns are conducted in the manner that they are.
At times frustrating and at others humorous, this is an excellent snap shot of what it's like to be a somewhat naive political newbie in Japan.
