Review of Camino (2016) by Jeremy P — 04 Jun 2016
This one was promising: I'd watch just about anything with Zoe Bell, and the last time she worked with Josh Waller was for Raze, which I was really into. Very little in this movie works though and it'll probably be the worst movie I see this year since I'm usually better at spotting duds.
It's almost like it was an experimental film with way too much "hey let's just try this and see if it works." The soundtrack is way too distracting far too often and just pulled me out of several scenes.
The main villain is too annoying and talks way too much. This one soldier who is supposed to be the best fighter in this missionary group toys around with Bell for far too long in this fight scene and passes on 100 opportunities to kill her until she pulls some crazy navy seal move that seemed rather out of character.
Bell was good and her action scenes were solid, and the movie has a good look, but so much else surrounding that is just a mess. Probably should have just lowered my expectations.
