Review of Camille Claudel (1988) by Ceciley J — 28 Aug 2007
Compelling, haunted and beautiful, this film really exposes the obsession of what it's like to be an artist. Love and creation dominate Camille Claudel, rip her apart and make her immortal.
The performances are violent, sensual and heart-breaking. Isabelle Adjani and Gerard Depardieu are so amazing that you almost forget about them, because all you are experiencing is Claudel and Rodin.
This synopsis provided by Flixter, very in keeping with the repression of the time Camille lived in, is offensive and needs to be revised.
