Review of Camille Claudel (1988) by Lois R — 23 Jan 2008
A fascinating film about the woman behind the man ... in this case, it was Camille Claudel in the shadow of famous sculptor Auguste Rodin. Isabelle Adjani is phenomenal in portraying the depth of Camille .
.. a strong, super talented, super intense artist in her own right, struggling with others' expectations of her and her love/hate relationship with Rodin. I love that it's peppered with other bits of historical items (the death of Victor Hugo, the writings of her brother Paul, etc.
) It's one of my all-time favorite movies, even so, there's a part that kind of drags (itis 2.5 hours long), but overall ... it's a real winner.
