Review of Calvary (2014) by Ernest E — 15 Apr 2014
This is soooo dark. It's also.
really funny in parts. The bleak landscapes of the West of Ireland fit the underlying mood of this movie to total perfectionp.
Brendan Gleeson is, as ever, brilliant in his leading role as the much-loved PP, living under the shadow of an assassination threat. I mis-guessed who the "baddie" was... but the twists' n'turns towards the end never felt contrived. Go, see, enjoy. But, if the "bad F-word", etc, offends you - don't go. Just feck off (not the bad F-word...) and miss out on a real treat.
