Review of Calvary (2014) by Ted P — 04 Sep 2014
A priest's life is threatened and he is attacked physically and verbally for a week by a quirky, fun but potentially murderous congregation who take communion on Sunday and heap abuse on their priest the rest of the week.
All followed by a tragic ending offering no hope. Very shallow themes, trying to be deep like a freshman philosophy term paper. Did God create evil people intentionally? Can you kill in self defense? Can a serial killer be forgiven? After these endless cliches, frequently identified as such by the protagonist, I was in no mood to forgive the film makers.
