Review of Call of the Forest: The Forgotten Wisdom of Trees (2016) by Farrell S — 23 Mar 2017
Call of the Forest mobilizes each and every one of us to connect with nature again, to connect with trees, and to restore the lost forests of the world one tree at a time. Diane Beresford-Kroeger packs a powerful and beautiful message into a film that's also very beautiful to watch.
The imagery, the sound design, and Diane's message leaves audiences emotional, inspired, and determined not only to connect with the trees around them but to also save trees from the widespread deforestation on this planet.
In fact, I overheard two women in the check-out line at the grocery store today talking about how the movie had moved them and how they were planning to put Diane's message into action. Beresford-Kroeger urges us all to 'hear the call' and to stop waiting for government or big business to pull the cotton from their ears.
I, for one, heard the call loud and clear: Plant one native tree per year for the next six years and go spend some quality time in your local forests! I'm in. Don't miss this film so you too can be a part of this movement.
