While it is portrayed as a beautiful "first love" or "coming of age" story, what it comes down to is a movie about an adult man who seduces a 17 year old boy half his age. What if the 17 year old had been a girl? Would the reviews have been so glowing? What possessed Armie Hammer to get involved in this sad project? A favor owed? A career in decline?
