Review of Call Me by Your Name (2017) by Yash B — 25 Jan 2018
The heartbreak experienced by the characters in "Call Me by Your Name" is universal. It is equal parts a coming of age story as much as it is romance. The performances in the film are all top notch and very grounded in reality.
I also thought the film was very well directed and I felt transported to 1980s Italy. My only real complaint with the movie is that some moments would drag because I felt certain scenes didn't really add to the narrative and just took up time.
Despite this, the film has a beating heart and is sure to captivate audiences. I also recommend staying through the credits sequence, as I feel it might be one of the most powerful examples of acting I've seen in a film in quite some time.
All in all, this movie is a unique experience that both moved me and left me thinking well after the credits had ended.
