Review of Call Me by Your Name (2017) by Felix K — 01 Feb 2018
Though beautifully shot, the movie fails to capture an emotional connection between the two main characters. Therefore the "emotional climax" feels forced and artificial. The movie could have done better if it hadn't shied away from actually showing the most intimate moments those characters shared.
It wanted to reach a wider audience and tried so by cutting out the intimicy of the romance. The relationship between the two lead actors which they showed on the press tour is more intimate than the one between the characters they play in this movie.
Which is bad for a movie that wanted to capture a romance.
