Review of Call Me by Your Name (2017) by Alieaynos D — 06 Mar 2018
Hey what is wrong with y'all? Sorry, I don't mean to sound like a douche but this film is extremely over rated. Some of the problems I have with it:
-"Oliver" and the bad acting. Or the non-existent acting. Right out of daytime television. But we do get constant glimpses of chiseled inner thighs. "Thanks" for that.
-The dialogue is slow, weird, unnatural. Who talks like that? It's just a mumble jumble of quasi-intellectual phrases.
-the non existing chemsitry between elio and oliver. why do they fall in love? they dont talk, they dont know anything about each other. it makes no sense.
-the mother, who is she? what is her job? she quotes hellenistic philosophers in german , smokes a lot, drinks a lot of wine and looks pretty. this picture completely fails in giving any kind of depth in the women actors. it's embarrassing.
-elios girlfriend and the lack of logic in: 1. falling in love with a beautiful young boy 2. being heartbroken for about five seconds. 3. then shaking hands and smile and say "we can be friends forever". what on earth happened there?
-the father. aloof and absently smiling and in the end having a pretentious "talk" with his son about enjoying life. it's embarrassing. yikes.
-the pace. it's so slow. slow does not equal interesting.
-the peach scene is obnoxious.
-there is no plot. they are rich, beautiful, intelligent, well off and the summer villa is pretty and the scenery is ravishing... I mean it's too saccarine. I feel sick.
-the villagers are just objects, a picturesque background. like items. its condescending as f***.
This is a really really bad movie.
